I stumbled upon this while looking for sterling necklaces and for the price (under ten pounds), I purchased it. It's set in a adequately weighted sterling setting. It can certainly be shined up nicely and the multi-facets allow maximal sparkle. Obviously it will not shine like a real stone but it's a nice accessory. It goes well with the 1.5mm sterling box chain I purchased.
