SENIOR FRONTEND ENGINEER

 

WHAT WE NEED IN A NUTSHELL

We are looking for exceptional frontend engineers to work as part of our technical team at Neatie.com in Richmond. You will be working on cross-platform web applications delivering to desktop, tablet, mobile and social platforms. The challenge is to help us develop the next generation browser-based user experience that will be seen by hundreds of thousands of customers every day. As an engineer, you will work closely with a cross-functional team composed of technical, creative, business development, UX and marketing professionals. You'll be working in a fast-paced, forward-thinking collaborative team environment.

WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

Reporting to the Technical Manager in the Development team, some of the things you will get involved in are:

  • Writing, testing and maintaining quality frontend code
  • Actively working to build and introduce best practices and technical changes to benefit the team and business
  • Working with a small, cross-functional team to deliver business value
  • Helping to maintain and improve our best practices
  • Collaboratively working with other team members to build a product that changes people’s lives

THE TYPE OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidates should have a proven track record of developing scalable solutions using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. An ideal candidate will have an e-commerce based background, with strong Agile, MVC, TDD and object-oriented design skills.

You're passionate about development and frontend technologies, proud of what you do and interested in advancing your skills and those of your team. You're able to work both independently and collaboratively with different team members on projects and can balance technology decisions and best practices with wider business judgement and delivery.

THE KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE NEED

  • Extensive cross-platform experience using object-oriented JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Less/SASS and RWD.
  • Strong communication skills, both technically and non-technically
  • Strong knowledge of libraries and frameworks such as jQuery, Jasmine, RequireJS, AngularJS, node.js
  • Experience or a strong desire to dive into the server-side and develop cross-functionally
  • Ruby on Rails experience or a desire to learn Ruby on Rails would be a key advantage
  • Champion of modern development practices and tools, eg Continuous Delivery, DVCS such as GIT, TDD
  • Strong desire to learn, develop and help drive change
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Enjoy pairing and collaboration
  • Desire to work closely with the business, learn new things and teach others
  • Ability to take ownership of a project or issue, analyse it and solve problems not faced before
  • You'll need a technical background, with a strong degree preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • A GitHub profile and contributions to open-source development is a bonus and highly valued
  • Previous e-commerce experience would also be beneficial

WHAT WE NEED IN A NUTSHELL

We’re looking for a creative copywriter who will be responsible for crafting smart, funny and original copy across all the channels in a fast-paced, online retail environment. This is a hugely multi-faceted role in a fast-growing, ever-changing business, with quick turnaround times and lots of unexpected challenges.

WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

  • Reporting to the Head of Copy, you’ll write copy that’s consistently on-brand, working across a wide range of media, including catalogues, emails, marketing communications, web banners, b2b and internal communications
  • You’ll help to define and articulate our brand tone of voice across all consumer and partner touch points
  • You’ll collaborate with other members of the creative team to develop original concepts and ideas
  • You’ll be an expert at coming up with interesting story angles to support key marketing and advertising strategies
  • Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for ensuring a high standard of written English in all copy produced for the business and you’ll work with the marketing and PR teams to write interesting and insightful copy for emails, site pages, press releases, blogs, partner communications, and other ad hoc marketing materials.

THE TYPE OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with impeccable long and short copy skills, someone who enjoys pushing the boundaries, having fun with language, and writing with wry observational humour and insight. Our TOV is all about being ‘less ordinary’ (as is our brand), and we need a copywriter who can ensure absolute consistency across all the channels, using clear ideas, concise sentences and active, powerful language. A true creative writer and thinker, you will have the ability to bring brilliant, never-done-before conceptual ideas to everything you do – from standout integrated campaigns, to witty and engaging emails, to laugh-out-loud headlines. Your portfolio will clearly demonstrate your ability to write with humour, insight and originality (not a cliche in sight), flawless spelling and grammar, and ideally, experience working across all the channels.

THE KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE NEED

  • Proven copywriting/ editorial experience ideally in a multichannel environment
  • Experience writing engaging, search engine friendly copy that gets results
  • Ability to translate a brief into impactful, creative copy that’s consistent with our TOV
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • A university degree, preferably in English or other Arts degree

WHAT WE NEED IN A NUTSHELL

We are looking for an instinctive and analytical Junior Merchandiser/ Merchandiser to join our Jewellery and Fashion category. You will be responsible for the continuous evaluation of products, navigation and curated areas of the site to improve conversion, customer experience and ultimately sales. We need someone with the ability to think creatively when looking at data and products with a keen eye for that winning product.

WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

Reporting in to the Category Manager, you will play a key role in growing the category by providing insight in to product sales, merchandising and site optimisation.

Some of the things you will be involved in include;

  • Presenting information about product performance with the category team
  • Regular reporting on key KPI’s
  • Reviews of the product range with competitor analysis to drive selection/ product development forward
  • Analysing the category to support selection for the department pages, curated site areas and marketing campaigns
  • Inputting into and providing analytical insight in to the content calendar for the category and the site
  • Providing data and ideas to drive the strategy for the department forward

 THE TYPE OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You could perhaps be an assistant merchandiser or a numbers savvy assistant buyer looking for a new challenge in a unique business. Above all, we are looking for someone who loves our products and our brand, and who can balance data analysis with inspirational product choices. You understand what makes our range less ordinary and easily prioritise under pressure and aren’t fazed by multi-tasking. You are great at detail and love numbers but equally you are passionate about the visual impact of a beautifully merchandised department page.

 THE KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE NEED

  • Previous demonstrable Ecommerce merchandising/ buying experience is essential. You'll have plenty of opportunity to utilise your knowledge and expertise to drive new ways of working
  • You need to be advanced in Excel and can demonstrate how functions such as “V look up” “Pivot tables” and “Indexing” alongside creative formulas and macro building can enhance how data is analysed
  • A good understanding of Google Analytics is essential
  • You will be able to show a flexible approach to data analysis and reporting
  • Previous experience of working within Fashion, Accessories or Jewellery would be advantageous
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills are required
  • You will demonstrate a strong passion for our products and brand
